Fall Semester 2020: What’s Next?
My job has gone very well and I like my coworkers a lot. It has taught me a lot of new skills and allowed me to see myself from
a different point of view. On the other side, it is very nice to be making some money during this time. Some people are out of
work due to COVID and I count myself very lucky.
As of recently, there has a spike of COVID cases in the Cedar Rapids area leading Mount Mercy to make an important
decision. The school decided to suspend team activities for all sports that were not in season. This meant baseball, softball,
bowling, cheer, and cross country would be suspended until November 30. Not meeting as a team has been very different and
I really do miss seeing my teammates.
Although I haven’t been able to see my team, I have been able to work out when I can and spending quality time with Tawny.
I noticed these bumps on my skin and was unsure about what they were from. I went to the doctor to get them checked out
and he immediately said they were chickenpox. I was shocked to find this out. Upon saying this, he took samples of the
bumps are ran tests on them. I was off work for a couple days when the results came back. The results were all negative. I
was very confused. I didn’t really get much of an answer but at least they weren’t chickenpox.
I was very fortunate but now I’ll have to keep my eye out and really start to take care of myself.
If it makes you feel any better, you are not alone in this tumultuous year of 2020, despite COVID I think everyone is experiencing other horrible things happen to them as well. I am sorry that your baseball season has been disrupted, but hey at least you haven't got chicken pox.
